Astology Software Tips: May, 1996
Each issue of Astro*Talk will include tips on current astrology programs.
If you've discovered any special tips or tricks to get the most out of your
software please contact Jeff@thenewage.com. This month we have a couple
of tips each from Matrix Software and John Halloran of Halloran Software:

Programs: Win*Star and Win*Star Plus
Astro*Carto*Graphy Maps
I've been certified in Astro*Carto*Graphy since Jim Lewis' first training
seminar in the mid-80's and often get client requests for A*C*G maps.
With Win*Star's maps module I can get these lines by clicking on the Mundane
Maps button. Then, by clicking on View, Asc & MC and Long
& Lat, I can drag the mouse over the map and see the changing
Ascendant and Midheaven degrees for any location. I like to find a nice
MC line, like Jupiter on the MC, then go up and down it with the mouse
to find an Ascendant degree that makes harmonious aspects with other planets
in the chart. I can do the same with a positive Ascendant line to find
a corresponding MC that does well with the natal chart. Of course, I can
then click on Chart and see the entire relocated chart for the
place in question. I think you really need this more full chart to understand
the implications of the A*C*G lines.
Win*Star Plus has a very powerful ephemeris generation program called
TimeTables. In addition to ephemerides, you can create a very handy
personal aspectarian for the month. When building your ephemeris just
include a column for "Transit to Natal." When the ephemeris
is generated click on File, then Print Aspectarian, choosing
"Transit to Natal." For a month ephemeris you'll get a nicely
displayed list of every one of your aspects for each day for your own
time zone. You can also select "Transit to Transit" for the
generic aspects. This is much like the daily aspectarian in the old Raphael's
ephemerides. Very cool.

Program: Astrology for Windows
& AstrolDeluxe for Windows
Saving multiple charts to file and creating and displaying special
biwheels
When you go to save a calculated chart, the program gives you a "File
Dialog" box asking for the name of the file, and should display a
default name such as charts.cht. Do not change the name of the
file to be the name of the person's chart. The file is more like a database
file which holds many records, than it is like a word processing file
which just contains one document. You have already entered the person's
name. Every time you have that chart file loaded, you will see in the
saved chart listbox the names of all the people that you have added to
that one file.
The procedure for displaying a biwheel for transits or for compatibility
in Astrology for Windows or AstrolDeluxe for Windows is as follows: Retrieve
a saved chart from the saved chart listbox and click on Quick Display.
This will display it at the Chart Information Screen. At this screen,
select the File menu and click on Compare This Chart to Another.
This returns you to the Natal Information Screen, but in "Compare"
mode. You can click on Here & Now for Current Transits or you
can enter or select someone's chart for compatibility. Click on Calculate.
The program will draw a biwheel with the second chart's planets in the
houses of the first chart. Click on the Display menu to see all
the comparison options that are available to you.
