Program:   Win*Star and Win*Star Plus

One of the handiest features of Win*Star is called DayScan. Just click on DayScan and it will quickly produce a visual display of transits for a 1 to 5 day period. It's recommended that you make an icon for the Dayscan.exe file in the Winstar directory (see your Windows help file or manual if you don't know how to do this) that you leave on your desktop. Then you can pop open DayScan any time you want without opening Win*Star.

You can access any chart in your Current Charts file in DayScan. Select a Transit to Natal and Transit to Transit search for 1-5 days and you're in business. DayScan has an option (Extra) to show the specific degrees of a planet. When this feature is used you can click on a planet's degree and its Sabian Symbol appears onscreen. You can also use Extra to get the Planetary Hours and sunrise/sunset times.

Click on any aspect (black for Transit to Transit, red for Transit to Natal) and you'll get precise information on the time of the aspect, as well as the exact degree and minute of the Transit and Natal positions. Clicking anywhere in the yellow time-scale area will pop up the positions of all of the planets for that time (longitude and declination), as well as those of the houses for your default location (use the vertical scroll bar to see the house positions). Click on this box again and it disappears. DayScan also shows when the Moon is Void of Course and when it changes signs. This is a fast, easy-to-use visual tool for tracking short-term transits.
